THE RESEARCH
Independent labs measured the difference.
Shisha smoke contains 4,800+ chemicals, including 69 known human carcinogens. Our filters were tested in independent US laboratories and the results are detailed below.
WHAT'S IN SHISHA SMOKE
The chemicals you're inhaling.
Despite passing through water, shisha smoke carries thousands of compounds. The most concerning are documented carcinogens and respiratory toxins. ROSH targets the worst.
Acenaphthylene
A polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). Causes oxidative stress in lung tissue, linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Methylnaphthalenes
Associated with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), bronchitis, loss of lung function, and cancers of the lung, oral cavity, esophagus, stomach, and bladder.
Phenanthrene
A key biomarker for total PAH exposure. Levels of phenanthrene metabolites correlate with overall toxic mixture concentration.
Benzene
Linked to leukemia. Levels in shisha can be over 6× higher than in cigarettes.
Nitrosamines
Among the most potent carcinogens found in shisha smoke. Formed during the burning of flavored tobacco.
Volatile aldehydes
Connected to lung cancer and leukemia. Includes formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, both classified as human carcinogens.
Heavy metals
Arsenic, chromium, lead, and nickel, accumulate in body tissue over repeated exposure with no safe lower bound.
4,800+
Total chemicals identified in shisha smoke. 69 are classified as known human carcinogens.
THE RESULTS
Three biomarkers. Three reductions. Independently measured.

Independent lab comparison: shisha session with vs. without ROSH filter.
METHODOLOGY
How the test was run.
Standardized session
Each test session used the same shisha equipment, tobacco type, coal weight, and pull frequency to control for variation across runs.
Smoke trap & analysis
Smoke from each session was captured and analyzed via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to quantify the concentration of each target compound.
With/without comparison
Sessions were run with and without the ROSH filter installed. The reduction percentages reflect the difference in compound concentration between the two conditions.
Independent verification
Tests were conducted by independent third-party laboratories in the United States. Repeated runs across multiple sessions confirmed the reduction figures.
